Migration Services
The Migration Services process follows a structured approach to migrating core application services through scoping, configuration, deployment, staging, and confirmation phases. It begins by defining project objectives and security requirements, followed by designing configurations and test cases. During deployment, DNS records and security policies are implemented. The staging phase focuses on testing and tuning, while the confirmation phase ensures that all settings are validated for seamless traffic transition through Cloudflare.
MIGRATION SERVICES OVERVIEW
Scoping & initial configuration via the dashboard, API, or Terraform
Scoping
The scoping phase establishes the project's objectives, scope, staffing, and educates key project team members. Each business unit identifies and prioritizes critical requirements for successful implementation.
A key output is a detailed migration plan orstatement of work.
-
Validate scope and timelines with stakeholders
-
Reaffirm project schedule, timelines and milestones
-
Understand current security policies and standards
-
Understand Network Architecture at Identified sites
-
Understand security requirements from IT and business stakeholders
-
Understand traffic flow and identify applications / protocols
-
Identify a pilot site with the customer
-
Creation and Sign off of a project plan
Configuration
In the configuration phase, the migration plan guides the adjustment of settings to meet project requirements. Cloudflare and Business Process Owners collaborate to optimize settings, set up endpoints, and improve processes. The key output is a thoroughly reviewed
configuration with defined roles and permissions.
-
Design and develop High level and Low level design documents and configuration templates
-
Define Network, Hardware, Software and Compute requirements for deployment of security solutions
-
Creation of Test cases for both functional and Non-functional requirements.
-
Approval of Design document
Final stages of migration allow for easy staging and testing via DNS
Deployment
In the deployment phase, DNS records, roles, and permissions are added to Cloudflare, and settings from the configuration phase are implemented. TLS certificates are issued, Worker development is drafted, and security rules are implemented, resulting in a fully
configured Cloudflare organization.
-
Configure Cloudflare Security Solutions per customer requirements
-
Configure security policies per customer requirements and standards
-
Troubleshoot any initial issues
-
Integrate the installed Solutions with the existing network monitoring tools and SIEMS
-
Configure Authentication, Authorization and Accounting policies
-
Reports configuration and backup schedule
-
Design and implement baseline configuration
Staging
In the staging phase, DNS records, TLS certificates and applications are staged for testing. Customer business process owners can now begin configuration parity tests. Tuning sessions can be done during this phase and verification of Cloudflare Worker script-scan be completed.
-
Perform Test case validation for pilot implementation
-
Troubleshoot and fix any issue during the pilot phase implementation
Confirmation
In the Confirmation stage, all configuration parity tests have been completed, and there is a high confidence that traffic being proxied through Cloudflare will be transited as expected. DNS records can now be updated to proxy traffic.
